The Kardashian family was no doubt thrilled yesterday, March 16, when Scott Disick decided to check himself into a rehab facility for help with his addiction issues. The reality star's last trip to a facility only lasted for a few days last summer, and it did not take him long to start partying hard again. By the time his third child with Kourtney Kardashian was born last December, there were plenty of rumors about the status of their relationship circulating. Disick spent last weekend partying hard in Atlantic City, embarrassing himself and, after Kardashian saw video footage of it all online, she reportedly issued him an ultimatum. His ibogaine detox could be deadly.
While it is great Disick has decided to do something, it is starting to look like he has hatched another quick-fix plan instead of committing himself to getting sober. He checked in to Costa Rica's Rythmia Life Advancement Center, where he will be undergoing ibogaine treatment.
Ibogaine is a psychedelic rainforest plant that is illegal in the States. While taking it to detox, patients have severe body sweats and strong hallucinations. Sources said the extreme experience can actually be deadly rather than therapeutic.
Perhaps the most worrisome part of all is the fact that the treatment only lasts for three or four days and then the patient is sent back to their regular life. It might be a fast way to flush all the drugs and deadly toxins out of the body, but that is all it does. In order for Disick to successfully stay clean and sober, he is going to need to change nearly everything about his lifestyle, minus his family.
Do you think Disick can keep himself on track with this quick fix or is he simply setting himself up to fail yet again? Will he be hitting up the clubs all over again in a few weeks? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
