Dropkick Murphys Play Surprise Set at Boston Airport Before 'Shipping Up to Dublin' for St. Patrick's Day Gigs [WATCH]

Dropkick Murphys surprised people at the Boston International Airport last night, March 16, with a few songs before boarding a plane back to Dublin for St. Patrick's Day. The group ran through "I'm Shipping Up to Boston," which was performed as "I'm Shipping Up to Dublin," "Dirty Glass" and "Rose Tattoo." Luckily, some fans captured the impromptu set on video, Consequence of Sound notes.

The crowd is ecstatic to hear the band's big hit, as you'll see in the video below. The "Dublin" substitute was a pleasant addition. "Shipping" leads into the fun drinking tune, "Dirty Glass," with a guest spot by someone from the audience (possibly). Ken Casey and the boys finish with the sing-along tune "Rose Tattoo."

Dropkick Murphys was heading to Dublin to perform two sold-out shows for St. Patty's Day. The band has a few dates scheduled around the United Kingdom before heading back to the States for gigs in New Jersey, Las Vegas and Boston, yet again.

The group released its last full-length album, Signed and Sealed in Blood, in 2013. It hit number nine on the Billboard 200 and received positive reviews.

"The last one was a concept album about a fictional Irish-American; this one may be their most devil-may-care, mixing hardcore blitz, Pogues instrumentation and Thin Lizzy swing," Rolling Stone wrote.

Following the Boston Marathon bombings, the Dropkick Murphys recorded an EP to help benefit victims of the tragedy. The effort featured "Rose Tattoo" with Bruce Springsteen (who recorded "Peg O' My Heart" previously with the band) and live versions of "Don't Tear Us Apart" and "Jimmy Collins's Wake."

"Innocent people being hurt by terrorists fits the core of that mission and we are proud to be able to help," the band wrote in a statement. The EP is available exclusively through iTunes.
