On Saturday, January 11th, series 3 of The Voice UK is premiering on BBC1. Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson are new judges, joining Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am, the show's long-time judge. The Guardian reports that she declined the offer to coach in series 1. Jessie J ended up taking on the female judge role. Minogue feels that Jessie J did a "great job especially for someone so young."
When asked how Minogue feels being the sole woman, she says: "It stops there being any stories about b-tchiness, cattiness, any kind of competition. Maybe it would be interesting to flip it up in another season and have three women and one guy." She hopes to give a voice to any girls or women that look up to her or women in her position.
Minogue has experience on television in the past. She left a soap opera in 1988 for music, when her debut "Kylie" album came out. Ricky Wilson is lead singer for the English band Kaiser Chiefs. There are new presenters as well. Emma Willis (who hosts Big Brother) and Marvin Humes of British boy band JLS replace Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates.
Minogue is currently at the launch, tweeting the above picture with the caption: "Wearing @ALEXVAUTHIER at the @BBCTheVoiceUK launch in London."
On twitter she also confirmed she's back to music full-force: "yes it's true I was on set shooting the video for my first single!!!" She posted an accompanying Instagram photograph.
