Macaulay Culkin performs in The Pizza Underground's debut music video, starts tour

Last month we introduced you to Macaulay Culkin's band, The Pizza Underground. They recorded in November and are now out with their debut music video, directed by Adrian Arredondo.

The Velvet Underground cover band includes Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kruetz, Deenah Vollmer, and Austin Kilham. In addition to The Velvet Underground theme, there's of course the pizza theme. (Songs titles are "Pizza Gal," "I'm Beginning to Eat the Slice," "Papa John Says," and more -- one more cheesy than the next. Fittingly so.)

The video and behind-the-scenes footage have already been pulled from VICE for copyright claims from EMI Music Publishing Ltd. Lucky for you, you can see them live. Yes, The Pizza Underground have started playing shows and are continuing a tour. (The Guardian still has the music video up.)

Macaulay Culkin talked to VICE's Noisey about their live show experience so far. "At first we were met with blank hostility and groans," Culkin says. "The crowd just didn't know what to make of it. In an eight minute set it took them about six minutes to get into it. By the seventh minute we had them in the palm of our hand."

The trick, according to Culkin, is remaining humorless. From the band's dark shades to their smile-devoid faces, you can see they've got that part nailed.
