Just last week, The Weeknd took home two Juno Awards and he's already got another accolade to add to his list of musical accomplishments. His latest single "Earned It" has been officially certified platinum by the RIAA.
According to ThisIsWalder.com, the track, which was also featured on the soundtrack for 50 Shades of Grey, is No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Charts on Billboard and No. 6 on the Hot 100.
The Toronto crooner performed his contribution to the film at the Juno Awards in Canada, where he took home awards for Artist of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for his tune "Often."
The Weeknd also took the stage during this year's SXSW festivities in Austin, Texas. As reported by CBS, he performed Thursday on the second night of the "YouTube at SXSW" event at the Coppertank Events Center. Other performers during the two-day event included The War on Drugs, iLoveMakonnen, Future Islands and Marina and the Diamonds.
"Earned It" is The Weeknd's most successful single to date. He first emerged on the mixtape circuit back in 2011 with the release of his debut project House of Balloons, which was followed by Thursday and Echoes of Silence. That same year, he appeared on a track entitled "Crew Love," which was included on Drake's sophomore album Take Care.
Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder" collaborator released a compilation album, Trilogy, consisting of remastered versions of the mixtape material and three additional songs in 2012. The following year, he went on to release his major debut album Kiss Land.
The LP hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 behind singles like "Wanderlust," "Belong to the World" and "Live For" by Drake.
Congratulations are most certainly in order!
