Rick Ross' 'Mastermind' may see release date as Diddy works on final mix

Rick Ross' sixth studio album Mastermind seems like the record that will never actually come out. Initially due out a year ago, the record now has no release date more specific than "2014." However, Rozay fans need not worry: the Maybach Music boss is still working on the record. Now, he's in the studio working with none other than Sean "Diddy" Combs.

In the wee hours of the morning on Jan. 10, Ross announced that he's working on the final mix of the album, all thanks to a special guest. "Sitting at the SSL board #Mastermind on repeat.. album mixed by Sean Diddy Combs," he wrote on Twitter.

The mix is good news for fans of Ross and for the album's completion as a whole. The Rick Ross/Diddy combination is one that is tried and true, with Ross guesting on Diddy's track "Buggati Boyz" and other frequent collaborations. Furthermore, Ross is signed on Diddy's management company Ciroc Entertainment.

With the news of Diddy working on the album's mix, it seems as though a release date for Mastermind is on its way. The record's initial single "No Games" dropped back in September, but on Dec. 19, Ross released a new track from Mastermind featuring another one of hip-hop's greatest MCs, Jay Z.

Mastermind will be Ross' sixth studio album. After facing many delays, it will be the official follow-up to his 2012 LP God Forgives, I Don't. In addition to Diddy, Ross has been working with DJ Khaled and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League on the new album.
