Amanda Knox's Acquittal Leaves Meredith Kercher's Murder Unsolved

The nightmare is finally over for Amanda Knox and her ex-lover Raffaele Sollecito who both staunchly maintained their innocence while being dragged through the Italian court system over the grisly murder of British college student, Meredith Kercher eight years ago. Both have been convicted, acquitted, convicted again only to be acquitted by Italy's highest court yesterday. This last judgment will stand and Knox has now officially done time for a crime that even the court system agrees that she didn't commit.

Knox issued a statement of relief and gratitude last night saying, "The knowledge of my innocence has given me strength in the darkest times of this ordeal, and throughout this ordeal, I have received invaluable support from family, friends and strangers. To them, I say: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness has sustained me. I only wish that I could thank each and every one of you in person."

So if Knox and Sollecito aren't guilty then who killed Kercher? An ivory coast vagrant by the name of Rudy Guede was convicted of the 2007 murder but judges in his case insisted that he could not possibly have acted alone. Before Kercher was found with her throat slit she had been stabbed 47 times and sexually assaulted. Kercher had no defense wounds on her body which would seem to indicate that someone else must have held her down while she was viciously attacked.

So if evidence seems to indicate that Guede didn't act alone then who helped him to murder Kercher? Do you think that Knox and Sollecito really are innocent or do you think that they both have now officially gotten away with murder? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
