'Sinatra: All or Nothing at All,' HBO's Alex Gibney-Directed Documentary Frames Late Icon's Life Through Lens Of His 1971 Retirement Concert [RED CARPET PREMIERE]

Alex Gibney follows up his fascinating Scientology documentary, Going Clear, with another project for HBO, Sinatra: All or Nothing At All. Mstars News (our sister site) was live on the red carpet last night for the film's premiere in New York City. They had the chance to speak with Gibney as well as one of the film's executive producers Frank Marshall, journalist Lawrence O'Donnell, and Frank Sinatra's daughter Tina.

Timed for the centennial of Sinatra's birth, the two-part documentary spans four hours and draws from never-before-seen footage provided by Sinatra's family.

Gibney frames the late icon's story through the lens of his retirement concert from 1971, for which Sinatra meticulously crafted a playlist that would span his career and take listeners down memory lane.

Beginning with his early biography, the film weaves together concert footage, family photos and videos, Sinatra interviews, and commentary from talking heads for an engaging look at the life of a complicated man.

Although the film was made with the full cooperation of the family, it doesn't shy away from controversial topics, such as his infidelity, fiery temper and notorious ties to the Mob. Instead, it provides an all-encompassing portrait of a man who was not only a talented entertainer, but also a social justice pioneer, a philanthropist, a political activist, a son, a husband, a father, and a friend.

Sinatra: All or Nothing at All premieres in two parts on HBO Sunday (April 5) and Monday (April 6) at 8 p.m. EST.

Sinatra: All or Nothing at All is an HBO Documentary Films presentation of a Jigsaw Production in association with Alcon Television Group and The Kennedy-Marshall Company; executive producers, Charles Pignone, Frank Marshall, Alex Gibney and Blair Foster; executive producers for Alcon Television, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson and Sharon Hall; producers, Jeff Pollack, Erin Edeiken and Sam Pollard; editors, Sam Pollard, Ben Sozanski and Anoosh Tertzakian.
