After Eminem teased a new song in the trailer for Southpaw, fans began to speculate about plans for a new album. Unfortunately, the Detroit rapper had already shot down rumors of a new Eminem album for 2015 back in January. Marshall Mathers, however, will be putting out a new album, just not a rap album and not under the name Eminem. Earlier today, a rep for the rapper revealed that his next project will be a metal album with his new band Woorhed (pronounced as Warhead).
More than 20 years, eight studio albums and countless other projects later, Mathers has been solidified as part of the upper echelon of rap. It's no surprise that he'd become tired of the genre and want to try his hand at something else.
Although rap-metal is its own genre, Mathers isn't looking to blend the two. His rep clarified that it will be metal only and Mathers wouldn't be providing any vocals to the project.
"Over the past few years, Marshall has been really focused on becoming a great bass player. With many of his songs having heavy bass, he was naturally drawn to the sound. When he isn't working on Eminem projects, he spends hours practicing scales and taking pointers from his friends in the industry," our source said. "He enjoys expressing himself through sound from time to time instead of having to come up with lyrics. In some ways it has become therapeutic for him."
Mathers new band consists of little-known musicians from a handful of different metal bands from across the United States. Who exactly those members are hasn't yet been revealed.
However, the source did say that the band will release its new material on Shady Records.
Woorhed's new single "Please Sit Down" is now streaming exclusively on Music Times, and it's just as explosive as the candy the band is named after.

And in case you believed us, Happy April Fools Day!!
