The second official trailer for N.W.A.'s highly anticipated biopic "Straight Outta Compton" has been released. The two minute and 30 second trailer gives fans another view into the lives of Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren and Arabian Prince as they changed hip-hop and pop culture with their abrasive and revolutionary lyrics that helped sparked spark the counter-culture gangster rap movement.
The trailer shows a sneak peak at what the members had to deal with in their conflicts with the police and the government and the process of making some of their iconic tracks. The film will hit theaters on Aug.18, so in meantime, watch the second trailer below and make sure you check out the first trailer here.
Dr. Dre recently took the time to sit down for an interview on 92.3 Big Boy's Neighborhood in LA and talked about the upcoming biopic. He emphasized that it was not a cash grab (not that he needs it) and for the project to be brought to fruition, it had to be done right.
"I was just nervous about putting a blemish on our legacy," said Dre. "The story had to be told right. And it's incredible, man. I'm really excited about it. We had our ups and downs with the filming process, but now the edit is almost done. We're working on music and what have you, and I think everybody's going to appreciate it, especially everybody from Los Angeles."
Ice Cube recently sat down with XXL to discuss the biopic and some of the more subtle themes of the film and their early lives.
"It feels great," said Cube. "To me, it's a story that should be told. It's an American story of not only rags to riches, but David vs. Goliath. To me, when you talk about N.W.A, you talk about non-violent protests against things that we were trying to comprehend, so we ended up putting it in song. There should be a movie about us."
