The past year has seen Macklemore & Ryan Lewis grow from being underground rappers to being international stars. Now it's time for the duo to get back to work. Macklemore has confirmed that he and Lewis are heading back to the studio. "Very happy to be back in the lab with this guy," Mack posted on Instagram with an accompanying photo of Lewis relaxing in an armchair.
However, he didn't share any further details about what the two are working on "in the lab." What we do know is that the two are in the studio. Lewis tweeted at the end of December, "feels so good to be in the studio again daily. im getting on my weirdo sleep schedule again!!"
Over the past year, the duo has been nominated for seven Grammys and have scored two No. 1 hits. According to a recent interview in The Source magazine's "Man of the Year" issue, the two don't plan to change up their game as far as being independent goes, but Macklemore still feels he has something to prove in the hip-hop community.
"I think that it's people that are stuck in a certain mentality, that aren't willing to grow and evolve with hip-hop music, that doubt," he said. "The first place that some of the criticism will go is the white boy came in and f**ked up hip-hop. But if you take the race thing out, the success at pop, the varying degrees of parents letting their kids listen to it, you cannot deny the quality of the music."
We're excited to see what the Seattle boys have in store for their sophomore release. What would you like to see them do this time around? Let us know in the comments section below!
