Ashlee Simpson has announced that she is engaged to Evan Ross. On twitter she posted the above picture with the caption: "My baby love and I are ENGAGED!!! Hallelujah Hawaii !!!!!"
Rumors were flying this summer when they were spotted together and sources claimed they were just friends. But that part is true, the two have been friends for over 10 years now. The friendship grew through mutual friends and the Los Angeles club scene, Music Times reported back in July.
The two share music in common as well. Ross released "Yes Me" in 2011, his first single. He also started his acting career early. In 2006, he co-starred with T.I. and Big Boi in the film ATL. The very next year he received solid reviews in Life Support, starring Queen Latifah. Lest you forget Ashlee Simpson has a hand in acting, as well. From family TV drama 7th Heaven to the recent comedy film Pawn Shop Chronicles, with Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Elijah Wood, the late Paul Walker and more.
They both come from musical families. Simpson's big sister Jessica paved the way for her to brake onto the pop scene in 2004 with Autobiography. Evan Ross is one of Diana Ross' five children. Diana Ross founded The Supremes in the 1960s, and has had a successful solo career since leaving the group in 1970.
Simpson has a child herself, Bronx, from her two-year marriage to Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. She has talked to Nylon about working on new music after her three studio albums. She calls it both a bit "soulful" and "electronic."
Twenty-nine-year-old Simpson is four years Ross' senior. No word yet on when the two will wed, but it could be close to Jessica Simpson's wedding.
