The chronicles of "Jenny from the Block" continue. Yesterday, Jennifer Lopez tweeted a teaser to her new "Same Girl" video with the above picture. She wrote: "To all my die hards who have been there from the beginning... #samegirl #thebronx." The song is written by Chris Brown and the video is filmed in much of her old Castle Hill neighborhood.
J. Lo sings, "I'm tired of trying to make you see that I'm still me." The comments below the YouTube video appear overwhelming positive, which is quite the win for the Internet. Some fans are favoring the return to her more urban vibe versus the techno/dance music she has also experimented with. Wallison Souza writes: "This song is amazing. It reminds me [of] 'Feelin' So Good,' 'Jenny From the Block' and 'Hold You Down.' The old JLO is back. JLO is the real queen! I love her so much."
There are of course the "haters," like J.Lo sings about, who cannot imagine that the money and fame has not changed her.
One thing has changed since she was the Jenny starting out singing, acting and dancing -- trying to catch anyone's eye. Jennifer Lopez has now earned a spot as the judge of up-and-coming talent in American Idol. She will be on FOX's two-day premiere of season 13, starting January 15th at 8pm Eastern. She will be the sole female judge, joined by Keith Urban and Harry Conick Jr. Randy Jackson, former judge, will serve as in-house mentor.
Lopez judged from 2011-2012, skipped a year, and is now back. Business Standard reports a salary raise this year to $17.5 million.
