Green Day Announces First Concert in 13 Months Ahead of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

It's been over a year since Green Day has seen the live stage, but ahead of its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the epic pop-punk rockers will be back in full form. Yesterday (April 1), the "American Idiot" band announced that it will be performing in Cleveland in just two weeks.

Green Day will be taking on the 1200-capacity House of Blues in Cleveland, according to The Plain Dealer. The April 16 concert at such a small venue was such a shock to fans of the rockers that the band had to clarify that the gig was not an April Fools' Day joke.

The show will be the band's first live engagement since a surprising South by Southwest show in 2014, when Green Day played under the moniker Foxboro Hot Tubs. Tickets for the show went on sale today (April 2) for Green Day fan club members. General on-sale will begin on April 3 at 10 a.m., EST.

Green Day will be in Cleveland for their inauguration into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2015. The trio are also expected to perform at the ceremony and have also teased a "special announcement" as they're inducted alongside Lou Reed, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Ringo Starr and more.

Green Day has largely been quiet since the 2012 release of its album trilogy: Uno, Dos and Tre!. After a disastrous performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas that year, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong went to rehab, and the band has been a quiet presence ever since.
