Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the entire show was dedicated to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in honor of the legendary rocker's album release for High Hopes. In addition to an interview with Springsteen, discussing the record and responding to tweets from fans, Fallon hit the stage in the best way he knows how: dressed up, impersonating another musician.
Fallon entered the stage wearing a traditional '80s Springsteen getup (i.e. denim vest, sunglasses and a red bandana around his head). As usual, the song he performed wasn't an actual cover by the artist, but this time it was a new song called "Governor Christie Traffic Jam," a commentary on the Fort Lee, NJ bridge scandal, in the style of "Born To Run." Springsteen joined Fallon in the middle of the song wearing the same classic outfit.
Leave it to Late Night to give Springsteen an opportunity to sing the lyric, "Man I really gotta take a leak, but I can't. I'm stuck in Governor Chris Christie's Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam."
Fallon and Springsteen later discussed how their physiques might differ slightly. Fallon has "comedian arms" and Springsteen is in incredible shape. He definitely works out. A brief clip of the two doing push-ups back stage before the bit revealed Fallon collapsing while Springsteen was still going strong.
