Despite shaking off haters who feel a need to comment on her weight, Kelly Clarkson continues to be on the bad end of body shamers. During a radio interview on Friday (April 2), conservative pundits Chris Wallace and Mike Gallagher said that the "Heartbeat Song" singer "blew up" and should "lay off the deep dish pizza." After realizing the error of their ways, however, the men have now apologized.
In a discussion that began on Little Caesar's bacon-wrapped pizza, the men quickly changed topic to Clarkson's fluctuating weight, saying that "She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while."
But, after some time, the men realized that Clarkson was too talented to take on their harsh words and have issued apologies, according to USA Today.
"I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment. I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her," FOX News anchor Wallace wrote.
Gallagher pulled his own weight into the conversation, issuing a statement on his website.
"Tubby Mike is the last person in the world who should bring up anyone's weight. I couldn't possibly feel any worse than I do for making an observation that led to the conclusion that I 'fat-shamed' this talented and classy entertainer. It was a really stupid thing for me to do," he wrote.
For her own part, Clarkson is likely to be unbothered by the men's comments. In an interview on Ellen on the very day that the harsh words were spoken, Clarkson addressed her weight, saying other people's words don't bother her.
"Sometimes we're more fit. Like, especially me. I'm such a creative person that I yo-yo. Sometimes I'm more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore. And then sometimes I don't and I'm like, 'I'd rather have wine.," she said.
