Good news for the thousands of people who weren't able to score Coachella tickets or aren't able to get out to the desert this weekend and the next to attend the festival. For the first time ever, SiriusXM will be live streaming sets across multiple channels, so there will be options for users who are interested in the many different genres represented at Coachella. The SiriusSM live stream will feature performances from the likes of Jack White, Hozier, Alesso, Vance Joy, Alabama Shakes, Axwell / Ingrosso, Alt-J, Fitz & The Tantrums, Milky Chance, Cedric Gervais, Interpol and others.
The broadcast will air on the Alt Nation Ch. 36 starting Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. EST. Select performances will also air on The Spectrum (Channel 28), SiriusXMU (Ch. 35), BPM (CH. 51) and Electric Area (Ch. 52). The broadcasts will be anchored all weekend by veteran SiriusXMU and The Spectrum host Jenny Eliscu, who will be joined by celebrity guest hosts throughout the weekend. She will be airing exclusive Coachella news, performance set time updates, artist interviews and reports from the desert. Get more information on SiriusXM's website here.
In between the YouTube live stream and the new radio stream; most of the sets will probably be recorded from the weekend. This means that if and when artists premiere the new material they have been working on in anticipation of Coachella over the winter, there will be two avenues to capture those tracks in decent quality. If you don't have a subscription to Sirius, you will have to settle for the live stream or rips after the fact.
Coachella still has not announced the set times for each day, but with doors opening in under 72 hours, fans should expect that news to arrive soon.
