Young Thug has shared the release date and cover artwork for his belligerently titled new album Carter 6. The "Stoner" rapper revealed the information in a Instagram post with the album title and cover, captioning the picture of him shirtless and bathed in a red light spotlight "#c6otw 4/17." The title comes as Young Thug and Lil Wayne's beef becomes more protracted with Weezy's Tha Carter V stuck in legal purgatory -- Exhibit A in the $51 million lawsuit leveled at Birdman and Cash Money Records that was recently moved to New Orleans. Check out the presumed cover below on Thugger's Instagram.
If April 17 is in fact the final release date for Carter 6, then it is almost likely to be released before Tha Carter V, a slap in the face to Lil Wayne that would make his album the prequel to Young Thug.
Thugger has already shared several tracks from the project, including "Check," which was premiered via a cash-filled music video and two London on Tha Track-produced tracks "Beat It" and "Halftime."
The album title has caused an uproar from the Lil Wayne fan base, but none more public than Weezy's daughter, who took to Twitter to express her indignation at Thugger's disrespect toward Wayne.
"Is he trying to be funny with this Carter6? Cause it's pretty childish to me! #myopinion," she wrote, adding, "Try again if you're even trying to get on my fathers level. Listen I usually stay in a child's place but that's my father and I'll stick up for him no matter what! It was not to be disrespectful. But you know what. I don't have to explain myself! I don't regret anything and I'll repeat myself if I have to. Behind all the cameras and media, there's a real family with feelings. YOU CANT SIT WITH US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
