Deborah Cox Song "More Than I Knew" Will Be Available on iTunes April 14 [LISTEN]

Deborah Cox is slated to release her new R&B song "More Than I Knew" on iTunes tomorrow, April 14. The Grammy-nominated singer's ballad is about what it is like to truly miss someone.

"More Than I Knew," produced by Thadeuis Dixon, is Cox's first official song from her forthcoming album Work of Art, according to Billboard. Work of Art is expected to drop this summer, Aug. 15.

Cox's heartfelt song with strong vocals kicks off with Cox declaring:

I gave you my heart on a platter,

It was stupid.

I gave you my life like it mattered.

But you took it.

I know that people tell me that it's going to take time,

But time feels like forever when you ain't by my side.

In an interview with GoPride.com, Cox shared what it has been like navigating through the music industry for the past two decades and landing her first role on Broadway.

"There have been many high points," Cox told GoPride.com. "Because I've learned over the years not to take anything for granted, I've made a point to acknowledge all of the moments along the way. Getting the record deal and being in the studio with Whitney Houston. Presenting at the Grammys and being nominated for a Grammy. Landing my first time on Broadway in Aida, originating a role and re-originating a role on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde. There have been many moments that have been really monumental and career building. I think there are different moments and pinnacles in every stage of your life. I don't like to say it was just one moment."

As for her popular 1998 song "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here," Cox explained that she knew from the beginning it was going to be a game-changer.

"I remembered hearing the song for the first time and completely feeling like that song was going to be one that changed the game and changed my life. It was one of those songs that really resonated -- the way it was written, the style ..." she said.
