One Direction: back in the studio
Payne shared a snapshot of himself, Scott and Louis Tomlinson together on Twitter on Tuesday (April 14), officially announcing that their frequent collaborator would be back for 1D's FOUR follow-up. (Payne was also friendly enough to plug Scott's new album My Hurricane, which is out in stores now.)
Tomlinson similarly plugged Scott's new album and the One Direction writing sessions on his own Twitter, moving away from engaging in a feud with Malik's solo career producer Naughty Boy.
Scott has previously worked with One Direction on hit singles such as "Story of My Life," "You & I" and "Midnight Memories."
It's unknown whether Harry Styles or Niall Horan are working on writing new material with anyone.
Further information regarding One Direction's fifth studio album remains tightly under wraps, though the new LP is expected to be released before the end of the year. 1D first announced its intentions to release a new record in 2015 when it was announced that Malik was leaving the band. In an official statement, the band revealed that they would be moving on as a four-piece and that they are "looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."
