Just a short car-ride away from his Warren hometown, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters decided to transform an independent Niles, OH record store, Record Connection, into an intimate concert setting.
"We're not far from my grandma's house," said 2015's Record Store Day Ambassador Grohl, notes Rolling Stone. "It's just up the road, actually." An exclusive and privileged gathering of 150 fans were able to celebrate with the esteemed Seattle band to pay homage to independent record stores.
Grohl continued with witticisms, suggesting there would be a keg party in Warren's very own Dave Grohl Alley. He recounted personal anecdotes of motorcycle rides, relatives and friends who worked near Record Connection—specifically an uncle who was a shoe store employee in the same plaza.
The hour-long set focused on Foo Fighters' early demos, Songs From the Laundry Room, in which the band released limited 10'' edition of the album for Record Store Day.
"I know we're in a strip mall," Grohl shouted, notes Consequence of Sound. "[But] let's pretend this is a stadium!"
After playing some obscure tracks, they plunged into stage dives and fan favorites including "My Hero" and "The Pretender" which incited a store-wide sing-a-long. Late in the set, Grohl pulled a switch with bandmate Taylor Hawkins to jam on the drums and pay tribute to his time spent as a drummer with Nirvana.

"Arlandria"
"Congregation"
"The Pretender"
"Big Me"
"Outside"
