You can already attend the Church of Yeezus, and now you'll be able to study about rapper Kanye West and his relationship with Jay Z. The University of Missouri will soon be offering a class entitled simply: Jay Z and Kanye West, which will take a look a the two emcee's relationship as their careers have skyrocketed.
According to Consequence of Sound and the MU registrar, Jay Z and Kanye West will observe the Watch The Throne rappers from three different perspectives: "(1) Where do they fit within, and how do they change, the history of hip-hop music? (2) How is what they do similar to and different from what poets do?, and (3) How does their rise to both celebrity and corporate power alter what we understand as the American dream?"
Textbooks from the class will (of course) include the rappers' albums and music videos but will also include Jay Z's Decoded, critical works about rap music and studies of how poetry works.
This is a college class after all. You can't just sit around and listen to "N*ggas in Paris" all day.
Fortunately for fall students of the course, the 300-page examination of Yeezy The Cultural Impact of Kanye West will be released in March.
