Demi Lovato would like her fans to know that she supports Bruce Jenner in light of his recent ABC interview with Diane Sawyer opening up about his identity as a woman. The singer dedicated a song to Jenner.
According to Refinery29, during a concert last night in New Zealand, Lovato shared her support and admiration for Jenner. In a clip shared by Refinery29 Lovato spoke candidly to the crowd to share her personal experience in the limelight.
"What's the purpose of this? What is this whole fame thing about?" Lovato posed to the crowd. "Because at some point it starts taking over your life not just in a performance aspect, not just in music."
She then shared a laugh with the crowd that suddenly "boom you're in rehab."
Lovato then turned the conversation to Jenner, who she referred to as an American hero and Olympian. She revealed that she wanted to dedicate her song to Jenner, "someone who became an even bigger hero last night."
The singer went on to explain that she appreciated his honesty during his Sawyer interview and added that he likely saved "so many lives". In a lighter moment, Lovato added that Jenner looked "fabulous" in the interview.
During the interview with Sawyer that aired last Friday, April 24, Jenner revealed: "For all intents and purposes, I'm a woman."
Throughout the interview he opened up on the way he views himself versus how the public views him from the outside looking in.
"People look at me differently," Jenner told Sawyer. "They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life—it is part of me. That female side is part of me. That's who I am."
