A lot of big things happened at the Grammys last night. Thirty-three couples got married by Queen Latifah, Daft Punk cleaned up with all the awards and Beyoncé got the party started right off the bat with her booty and husband Jay Z. But, there was one thing that dominated the evening even more than any of the music... and that was producer/rapper/everything Pharrell Williams' giant brown hat.
The second the "Get Lucky" singer stepped onto the red carpet, Twitter exploded with tweets about his tall brown chapeau, which was quickly likened to Curious George's Man in the Yellow Hat, the Arby's logo and Canadian Mounties.
A parody Twitter account even popped up, fittingly called @PharrellHat, which has amassed nearly 16,000 followers as of press time.
Luckily, Pharrell was able to take the hat jests in stride. After the show, he sat down with Billboard and simply stated he picked the giant hat because he "just liked it." He also responded to a tweet from Arby's after they joked they wanted their hat back and retweeted a Toy Story parody.
"Y'all tryna start a roast beef?" he asked the sandwich chain.
But even if his big brown hat was a thing to be parodied, Pharrell was likely unfazed by the jokes. He was one of the night’s biggest winner, taking home four Grammys for: Producer of the Year, Record of the Year (Daft Punk, “Get Lucky”), Album of the Year (Daft Punk, Random Access Memories) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Get Lucky”).
