The Afghan Whigs announce first album in 16 years, 'Do To The Beast'

Afghan Whigs have announced the release of a new album, their first in 16 years. Entitled Do To The Beast, the effort follows up 1998's 1965 and is due out April 14 via Sub Pop.

The Whigs will play Coachella this year the weekend before and after the album drops. The Ohio band got together in 1986 and came up during the grunge era. They have put out six records so far, Do To The Beast being the seventh. The band split up in 2001 after 15 years together but got back together in 2006 to record two news songs, "Magazine" and "I'm a Solider," for their compilation Unbreakable. They also briefly reunited in 2012 for a series of festival dates and randomly joined Usher last year at SXSW to cover "Climax."
