It's been a wild and crazy 33 years but now legendary metal band Motley Crue are calling it quits. Today (Jan. 28), the band held a press conference in Los Angeles, Calif., announcing its end alongside an expansive 72-date North American tour alongside groundbreaking rocker Alice Cooper.
The announcement follows an ominous announcement of a press conference earlier this week, wherein Motley Crue teases the "biggest announcement of their career" and that "All Bad Things Must Come To An End."
On a stage adorned with macabre headstones donning the names of Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars, the press conference host announced that Motley Crue would be ending for (Dr. Feel)good in 2014 following a tour and a lengthy legal process that will hinder the band members from touring under the Motley Cure name for good after this tour. According to the band's lawyer, is any of the members attempt to perform under the name Motley Crue, they all have the right to stop the tour or sue for damages.
"We don't want to be one of those bands that maybe have one guy left in it or somebody's brother. We want to end it with the four founding members of Motley Crue and go out on top," said Neil.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale tomorrow (Jan. 29) for VIP fan club members and Friday (Jan. 31) and Saturday (Feb. 1) for the general public. The press conference promised "inclusive" ticket prices, allowing all to see the final Motley Crue tour.
Alongside the tour, oddly enough a country music tribute album and a film adaptation of the band's memoir will be released.
