Although she just won two Grammys and is now officially pop royalty, Lorde hasn't forgotten her roots. The 17-year-old singer took out a full-page ad in the New Zealand Herald to express her gratitude to the fans from her home country with a handwritten note, which was published in today's paper.
After winning Grammy awards for Song of the Year and Best Solo Pop Performance, Lorde wrote, "Hiya, if you're reading this Joel [Little] & I won. HOLY CRAP. It was a crazy day & my friends & family over here are still freaking out. I just wanted to say thank you for the time you've given me these past 14 months. Finding out about me online or in between these pages or in your headphones. Without your support, there's no way I would ever have gotten to stand in the middle of the Staples Centre & perform in my school shoes."
She also said she couldn't wait for her show tonight in Auckland saying, "Together, we'll make it magic. I'll see you there." The show is all-ages and she is offering 500 discounted tickets for fans under 18. Pretty awesome.
