In a new campaign video, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve-O, Anthony Kiedis and more banned together to aid Animals Asia in raising awareness for diminishing brown bears that are caged and treated inhumanely while being farmed for bile.
Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Kiedis kicks off the campaign video in true PSA fashion, but quickly is interrupted by a make-up artist who clothes him in bear ears and puts a black dot on his nose. Osbourne causes the second interruption and growls through the campaign with a remorseful Sharon Osbourne by his side.
The bear ears circulate through the video--Duff McKagan supports the look while Matt Lucas finds them to be irritating exclaiming, "I've got three BAFTAs, three BAFTAs!" In expected Jackass form, Steve-O ends the clip duckwalking in a full bear outfit while strumming the strings of an acoustic guitar before recognizing "Wait, man where's all the rock stars? Where's Kanye? Where's Bieber? I thought we were gonna jam, man!"
The video comes to a close with information discussing the extinction of bears in Asia. Kept in agonizingly tiny cages and exposed to harm and traumatic measures on a daily basis, the bears experience painful gallbladder removal so the bile can be used for modern medicine, notes Rolling Stone. In China, over 10,000 bears suffer in captivity and more than 1,200 are mistreated in Vietnam. Over 500, thankfully, have been rescued by Animals Asia and transported to sanctuaries.
The campaign to cease bile farming incorporates a photo series taken by Katarina Benzova, rock photographer, including the celebrities who made cameos in the campaign, reports The New York Daily News. Purchase a shirt that says "Let a Bear Sh-t In the Woods" to support the end of bear bile farming and visit the campaign's website to show support.
