Summer just around the corner, and according to Maroon 5, it's going to be a tough one. Ahead of the re-release of its latest album V, today (May 15), Adam Levine and co. released its season-appropriate "Sugar" follow-up "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf*cker," but listening to the catchy new track actually won't hurt at all.
The single takes on breakups, with Levine decrying his ex-girlfriend for being shallow and "fancy" all while admitting that being without her is going to make this summer kind of suck.
"She wants it all / She's always taking something/ And now I'm left with nothing/ I'm ripping off / I'm ripping off that bandage / Because I just can't stand it," Levine sings in the second chorus, telling his ex that she can't dance or post anything of worth online.
"This Summer's Gonna Hurt" seems to usher in a different sound for Maroon 5, moving them away from their funk roots and recent pop-rock sound and into something with a major stadium rock groove. The chorus takes the mic away from Levine, handing it over to the rest of the band who declare definitively "This summer's gonna hurt like a motherf*cker." And it actually bites pretty hard.

"This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf*cker" is the fourth single from Maroon 5's new album V and the first track to come from the record's forthcoming re-release. The new version of V is set for release later this summer, and that doesn't hurt so bad.
