The nominees for the 2015 BET Awards were announced today (May 18), and while most rappers and musicians will be happy to be up for the trophies, the always outspoken Azealia Banks is not so pleased. After being up for the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award, the "Ice Princess" emcee fired off on Twitter, saying that being nominated against Nicki Minaj just isn't even fair.
Alongside Minaj, Banks is up for the Best Female Hip Hop Artists award this year against Tink, Dej Loaf, Trina and her Twitter nemesis Iggy Azalea. But, Banks isn't so happy about the idea.
"I really hate getting nominated for @bet awards. They're so bogus," she wrote before dissing Minaj.
The female rap award at the bet awards goes to nicki every year, it's not even a real award anymore lol it's a bit of a running joke.

They should just nominate nicki five times with five different wigs on and pick the best picture lol — AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) May 18, 2015
*hears barbz buzzing in the distance* *rolls up car windows* *sound of little barb heads slamming into glass* *unconscious barbs on floor*

*turns up random nicki Minaj verse* *puts car in reverse* *backs up over barbs* *blood splatters* *puts car in drive and takes off* — AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) May 18, 2015
And before we (or anyone else) had the chance to write up this story, Banks threw down a narrative for us.
3,2,1 all the urban media sites gonna run a headline saying I'm throwing shots. Black media is so stupid and pointless. What a shitty cycle.

Indeed, it seems as though Banks has a point. Since 2010, Minaj has taken home the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, tying Missy Elliott for the most wins at five. The last non-Minaj rapper to win was M.I.A. in 2009.
