Pharrell Williams will make the Oscars a little more 'Happy' with live performance

Pharrell Williams has one more thing to be "Happy" about this season: an Oscars-worthy performance. Today (Feb. 4), it was announced the Grammy-winning producer/rapper/singer/songwriter will be performing at this year's Academy Awards.

According to Oscars.org, Pharrell will be bringing some upbeat moods to this year's ceremony by performing his Despicable Me 2 single "Happy."

The Oscars performance will be the second major award show gig for Pharrell in 2014. Last month, he stormed the stage with Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Wonder for a high-energy, irresistibly groovy rendition of "Get Lucky."

"Happy" is nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song alongside three other nominees. Pharrell is up against U2's "Ordinary Love," Karen O and Spike Jonze's "The Moon Song" and "Let It Go" by Idina Menzel.

"Alone Yet Not Alone" from the film of the same name was previously nominated for an Oscar but had its ballot inclusion rescinded after shady promotional practices by one of the songwriters were uncovered.

The Oscars will air on Sunday, March 2, on ABC. Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres will play host for the second time.
