Fans are now able to bid on pieces of the drum kit Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith used during the Super Bowl performance

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is auctioning off his drum kit used at the band's Super Bowl performance, available in two separate pieces and three sets of sticks, on NFL.com. The band performed "Give It Away" with Bruno Mars, and the proceeds from the auction go to Make-a-Wish America.

According to Rolling Stone: "The kit is a custom-made "limited-edition" clear Plexiglas Pearl set that has been broken in two, so one kit represents the AFC and the other, the NFC, complete with conference team logos. Each kit includes limited-edition Sabian cymbals."

Make-a-Wish America was created to grant wishes to children with life-threatening diseases. Bidding ends Friday at 10 p.m. EST. Earlier today, the kits were going for between $10,000 and $13,000 each, and the sticks ranged in price from $295 to $610.

Based on the numbers from USA Today, Sunday's Super Bowl was the most watched Super Bowl in history. The Associated Press reported that 115.3 million people tuned in to watch Bruno Mars with the Chili Peppers. No doubt, it was one of the most popular Super Bowl Halftime performances.

The Super Bowl itself wasn't the only thing that brought in viewers on Sunday. USA Today reported that the Puppy Bowl (Animal Planet's 10th annual production) brought in 3.3 million viewers on its own. Maybe some people switched over once the Seahawks had it in the bag. Hallmark's Kitten Bowl brought in 1 million viewers as well.

The drum kit is valuable not only because Smith played on it, but its presence at the Super Bowl is an extra incentive to bid. We'll see how much it goes for.
