The mysterious Swedish heavy metal band Ghost B.C. has revealed the details of its forthcoming album Melioma, releasing a late-night trailer that also introduces the new vocalist for the group, Papa Emeritus III. The album will drop on August 21.
Although many bands wear masks nowadays, few have had as much success hiding its true identities than Ghost B.C. The band consists of the vocalist Papa Emeritus (basically the pope of the church of the Antichrist that the band represents) and a selection of "nameless ghouls." Last year word got out that Papa Emeritus II was actually Tobias Forge of the band Repugnant, when Behemoth's Nergal Darski posted an Instagram photo that implied Forge was the mystery fiend.
Whether that revelation led to the replacement of Emeritus II is unknown. However, the new Emeritus appears in the clip to badmouth the work of his predecessor, citing the fact that no no governments crumbled under his reign. Consequence of Sound notes that a popular rumor is that Emeritus III is in fact Forge again...although the group will, of course, not comment on the matter.
The new vocalist will appear with the band for the first time in its hometown of Linkoping, and then the band will open for the Foo Fighters on a selection of European dates. Dave Grohl is a huge fan of the act, serving as producer on the covers album When You Have A Ghost during 2014. The new rendition of Ghost will take place in Denver on June 18, yet the band suggests that September 26 will be a big day. The commercial claims that "He's coming...Philadelphia...September 26." We presume that means the band will be in town, but what other details are in the works? Satan only knows.
