The Doors' 'Other Voices' and 'Full Circle' to be Re-issued and Released in September

After The Doors frontman Jim Morrison joined the "27 Club" in 1971, L.A. Woman marked the last album the foursome would unveil. The remaining trio, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore continued on after the lyricist's death to release their often overlooked seventh and eighth studio albums Other Voices and Full Circle.

The two Morrison-less LPs will see a Blue Rhino reissue on on both vinyl and CD on September 4. The reissues feature rare bonus track "Treetrunk," which saw its first release on the B-side to "Get Up and Dance," off of Full Circle and remastered audio by Other Voices producer Bruce Botnick, notes Rolling Stone. The 180-gram vinyl copy includes the zoetrope once packaged with the original Full Circle vinyl and "historically accurate sleeves."

Morrison was found dead in a Paris apartment bathtub on July 3, 1971 when the band was in the middle of recording Other Voices. Krieger and Manzarek took over and split vocal duties.

A lawsuit ensued in 2002 concerning disputes over use of band name and use of songs for commercials between the trio and eventually soured the relationships of Densmore, Krieger and Manzarek. The keyboardist passed in 2013 at the age of 74 from bile duct cancer, leading the last two Doors members to reunite. The debacle gave Densmore material and inspiration for his new novel, The Doors Unhinged.

"John and I haven't been on the best of terms. Ray and I wanted to play as The Doors, and John didn't want to, and so we had a big lawsuit. But now John and I are back on track...too bad it took Ray's passing to cause that. But I am happy that we are," Krieger said, notes NME.
