Sam Smith has announced that he's ready for the road after undergoing surgery on his throat, and has rescheduled the Australian tour that he was forced to cut short when suffered a hemorrhage to his vocal chords during April.
The newly schedule dates will begin on November 28 in Perth and then continue to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, respectively, into early December. The news that Smith is back in peak condition will also give some ease to American fans attending festival events such as Lollapalooza, where Smith is slated to be among the biggest acts on the lineup.
"Australia, I am so so happy to finally have some good news for you... I can now announce that my cancelled 'In The Lonely Hour' tour dates have been rescheduled!!" Smith said in a statement. "I'm unbelievably excited to get back onstage and perform for you all again, and I promise it will be so much better than it would have been before when my voice was damaged. The past few months have been incredibly difficult, but the support, love and patience my fans have shown me is absolutely unreal. I am so grateful to every one of you. I can't wait to see you all."
Prior to announcing the rescheduled Australian tour, Smith took to Facebook to reveal his recovery from surgery in a bemusing way. He posted the text "I CAN SPEAK AGAIN!" along with a photo from The Little Mermaid, from the scene where Ariel's voice is restored following the death of Ursula.

Smith had been under a mandatory three-week speaking ban as part of the recovery process from surgery. Your correspondent, an obnoxious conversationalist, can only imagine how terrible that must be.
Smith will be making his first return performance in Suffolk on July 3, just a little less than a month from now.
