In terms of curious "supergroups," it doesn't get much more curious than Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks. The frontman of said group is of course Tare, who perhaps included his name in the title to escape from the attention given to fellow Animal Collective member Panda Bear. Either way, Slasher Flicks also includes Angel Deradoorian, who also didn't get enough credit for her contributions to the Dirty Projectors. Rounding out the group, presumably on drums, is Jeremy Hyman, previously of Ponytail.
The group announced its debut LP, which will be titled Enter The Slasher House and available April 8. The trio played a tour last year, and they've released a short run of tour dates to go with the new album announcement as well.
One thing we can say thus far: 2014 may be young, but Enter The Slasher House is our favorite album art thus far. The cover features what seems to be an eagle-type bird, with a human skull head, wielding a knife. That image is etched into a pine plank.
The group's tour will open during April in Madison, Wisconsin and wrap up at the Austin Psych Fest early in May. The full tour schedule is below.
