The mud has barely dried on Randall's Island after a very busy and successful festival weekend and Governors Ball is already back with new information about the 2016 edition, including dates and ticket information. In addition, Gov Ball has released a short but sweet after movie for this past weekend's festivities.
Clocking in at under three minutes, the clip shows some of the biggest names who performed at the festival at their most epic like Drake, My Morning Jacket, Royal Blood, The Black Keys, Florence + The Machine, Gorgon City and many more. It also takes a more colorful route, showing attendees throwing colorful paint chalk, commonly used during the Indian holiday of Diwali, at either themselves or in the air.
The after movie is soundtracked by Flume's 2012 track "Insane," featuring Moon Holiday taken from his debut self-titled album that year. The Austrlian producer, DJ performed on the Big Apple stage Sunday night at 8 p.m.
The 2016 edition will be held June 3-5 and to try and capture the moment, tickets for next year are already on sale. A limited number of pre-sale tickets are available now starting at $275 with fees for General Admission and $590 with fees for VIP.
It is definitely very early to be already thinking about a weekend 12 months from now, but if you have your life together (tips posted in comments welcome) and can commit to this, then go for it.
Check out our written recaps of the festival, which include sets from deadmau5, Florence + The Machine, SBTRKT, Connor Oberst, The War On Drugs and others, as well as our photos taken there. Gov Ball just celebrated its fifth year as a festival and we hope to see if around another five more and beyond.
