Taxi drivers in France are protesting the lack of regulation surrounding Uber cars and one rock star unexpectedly got involved in the row. Today (June 25), Courtney Love called for an Uber at just the wrong time and the "Miss Narcissist" singer's car was mobbed by angry protesters. And of course, Love documented it all on her Twitter.
Calling out to her fellow Parisian traveler Kanye West, who was hiding out in the airport while the protests were raging, Love posted a series of scary tweets detailing the attack on her car. According to her, her first Uber's tired were slashed and the vehicle was hit by metal bars. Her driver was also "held hostage" by angry drivers.
Love also posted a photo of an egged window and called out to the president of France for not trying to stop the violent attacks on Uber drivers and passengers, writing "François Hollande where are the f*cking police??? is it legal for your people to attack visitors? Get your ass to the airport. Wtf???"
In the most terrifying post, Love also showed taxi drivers attempting to enter her car on Instagram, though they were unsuccessful.
Fortunately for Love, a few passing motorcyclists may have just been Empire fans. She paid them to be rescued from the increasingly violent row.
Though Love's experiences seem terrifying, she is not alone. The BBC reports that some taxi drivers have been flipping cars and burning tires in the streets to protest the government's unfair licensing policies for taxi drivers versus Uber drivers. They have to pay thousands of euros for licenses, while Uber contractors get off without paying the fee.
