Beach House recently released a new single from their forthcoming LP Depression Cherry. Known for swoon-inducing harmonies and lyrics that tug at the heart without playing coy, the Baltomore based dream pop outfit whet fans appetites with "Sparks" from its forthcoming album last week via Spanish radio. Aired originally on RTVE, the Baltimore based duo's latest track, which is appropriately titled "Sparks," stays true to the band's already established aesthetic by way of lush lyricism and delectably jangly riffs. The perfect intersection between moody shoegaze and finessed pop, Beach House's first single to be released from their fifth studio album is reminiscent of Black Tambourine's b-sides and the cinematic orchestration of Stars' most memorable singles.
Nearly hypnotic, "Sparks" opens with an intentionally minimal loop of vocals that seem to swell as the track progresses. Later fusing with buzzing guitar, precise melodics, and coldwave-esque drumbeats, "Sparks" gradually evolves into a breathtaking pop ballad with atmospheric emotives and flawless vocals that feel organically cinematic. Catchy yet gripping, "Sparks," much like the well loved "Myth" and "Lover of Mine," proves that Beach House's latest LP will undoubtedly become a favorite for fans. Promising a "return to simplicity," the acclaimed two-piece sets to release their long anticipated follow up to 2012's Bloom on August 28 via Sub Pop. As if the promise of a new full-length isn't enough to send fans into a fit of applause, Beach House will also hit the road next month for an extensive and nearly year long tour in support of Depression Cherry. Judging by the massive amount of buzz generated by "Sparks," it wouldn't be a surprise if tickets for the group's forthcoming tour sold out as quickly as they did back in 2006.
