Diddy Not Facing Felony Charges from Attack on Son's UCLA Football Coach

Sean "Diddy" Combs, the head of Bad Boy Entertainment, won't face felony charges stemming from his attack on a UCLA football coach two weeks ago. The Los Angeles County District Attorney has rejected the case. The former emcee was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery.

Combs isn't entirely out of the woods yet. Although it's a relief to know that he won't be facing any more serious felony charges, the case is being referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney, who could still hit Diddy with misdemeanor charges.

The case is certainly a...curious one.

Combs was attending a practice session for the UCLA Bruins, as his son Justin Combs is a defensive back for the squad. Diddy took exception to how tough head coach Jim L. Mora (not his father, famous ex-NFL coach Jim. E. Mora) was taking it on his child. Following the practice, the rapper found his way to Mora's office and attacked him with a kettlebell (an iron ball with a handle, used for weight-training).

No one was seriously injured during the incident, and Diddy was promptly arrested by campus security and shipped to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The rapper will appear no worse-for-wear as a result of the incident—he's always looking to maintain some level of reputation, fighting with Drake and whatnot—and Mora didn't suffer any serious injury. So the real loser here, ultimately, is Justin. The younger Combs has played in seven games thus far for the Bruins and we can only hope his father's fracas doesn't ultimately damage the son's relationship with the team and university.
