Gregg Allman 'Midnight Rider' biopic adds three more actors

Charles Dutton, Aldis Hodge and Kathy Baker have joined the cast of Gregg Allman biopic Midnight Rider, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is being made by Unclaimed Freight Productions' Randall Miller and Jody Savin.

The film starts Tyson Ritter and William Hurt as a young and old Allman, respectively. Wyatt Russell takes on the role of brother Duane Allman. Eliza Dushku, Bradley Whitford, Joel David Moore, Zoey Deutch and Chad Lindberg were previously cast for the film.

As the article notes, the movie tells two stories: Gregg Allman's journey to forming the group The Allman Brothers Band and the success that followed, which came with rock 'n' excesses, and his realization at 64 that he needed to get clean or else he might die.

The shooting for the film begins February 24 in Savannah, Georgia, at Meddin Studios with Miller directing. It will be released through Open Roads Films domestically and through The Exchange internationally.
