Dmitri Hvorostovksy Gives Private Recital in Light of Brain Tumor Diagnosis

While it's been reported that Russian baritone, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, will receive treatment in London for his brain tumor, it appears the singer turned up Sunday night at the Russian ambassador's residence for a private recital.

According to a Russian music site, he told guests at the performance:

"I do not want to tell you about the details and difficulties of my treatment, I'll go through and pass. But I wanted to gather all of you, because I really missed you...The main reason: it so happened that I lived in London for twenty years, and I've never [been] [at the embassy] did not happen, but it's just ridiculous.

So I decided to come here with a concert and very glad that you came. Thank you! "

Having been diagnosed with a brain tumor, Hvorostovsky has since cancelled all summer appearances in order to receive treatment at a London cancer center.

A source close to the family told Russia Beyond The Headlines a while back that as of June 25, Dmitri was aware of his condition. Thus, in response to a most harrowing diagnosis, all future shows had to be removed from the roster.
