Stevie Nicks is no stranger to television having recently made a cameo on American Horror Story. Now the Fleetwood Mac singer says she's interested in writing music for the HBO series Game of Thrones.
In an interview with Radio Times (via Rolling Stone), she said she got into the show back in 2011 after her mother's death and credits the show with helping her through that time, which she told them also included a bout with pneumonia. "I've written a bunch of poetry about it - one for each of the characters," she said. "I'm always looking for that kind of inspiration, and I'm very inspired by it — as I was very inspired by Twilight."
She said that her favorite characters were Khaleesi and Cersei Lannister (who she likes because she's "just mean as sh*t") and that she is blown away by series creator George R. R. Martin's ability to create such an expansive and detailed world. "It blows my mind that he's able to create this vast, interlinked world. As a songwriter I write little movies. But I can't imagine sitting down and writing even one small book, a novel. We each have our thing that we're really good at."
Nicks writing music for the show wouldn't be unheard of. The show has a history of featuring artists on their soundtracks and in cameos. Back in September it was announced that Icelandic art-pop group Sigur Rós would be featured on Season Four of the show, and in seasons past, The National recorded "Rains of Castamere" for the series and The Hold Steady recorded "The Bear and the Maiden Fair — both were inspired by lyrics from George R.R. Martin's novel "A Song of Ice and Fire." Also, members of Snow Patrol and Coldplay have also had guest spots on the show, and MS MR and Nine Inch Nails have been featured on trailers and promos.
