Greg Bates says that he was hooked on country music at an early age. The Nashville native says, "The first day that I figured out that you can tell a story with three chords in three minutes and just kill somebody emotionally, I was hooked. The stories are what really drew me to country music." After graduating from Belmont University, he started living the dream under a co-publishing/artist development deal with Effusion Entertainment and Super 98 Music – the publishing arm of the Big Machine Label Group.
His debut project, an EP from 2012 called Greg Bates EP, spawned the Top 5 hit, "Did It for the Girl" and last weekend, it worked.
On February 15, 2014, Greg tweeted "I asked and...@shelleyskidmore said yes! #engaged! pic.twitter.com/sBxfAsc3lO"
He followed that up with "Wedding Workout #1 is in the books. How am I already this sore?" and "Thanks to everybody for all the kind words. So blessed and excited to see what the future holds for us! #muchlove @shelleyskidmore."
