In a radio interview last November, Kanye West praised James Blake saying, "Just go listen to his music, and say, 'Hey, that's Kanye's favorite artist."
The British electronic songwriter told Rolling Stone that he thought the compliment was nice. "I've been inspired by a lot of the music he's made," he told them. "I was certainly inspired by Yeezus. It made me rethink what I'm doing. It's one of those albums, whether you like it or not, it should impact you in that way."
West invited Blake to his studio a few years ago to show off new material that would eventually end up on Watch the Throne. Since then, the two artists have maintained a relationship. Recently, West asked Blake to collaborate with him on new music. Blake told Rolling Stone that it was important for him to work in the same location as West to ensure their work is "bare bones and personal."
No offical plans to have been set, Blake told them, "So all I can say is we'll see and watch this space but there's things coming. I'm really excited. My monotonous tone of voice won't show you that, but I'm excited."
We will update you if more information on a collaboration becomes available. For the full story, head over to Rolling Stone. For now, listen to Blake's remix (under his Harmonimix moniker) of Yeezus opener Kendrick Lamar's "M.A.A.d City." Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
