Chance the Rapper, soon to be Chance the Father, is having a baby. The 22-year-old Social Experiment rapper from Chicago just gave us the good news on Instagram, sharing a close-up of his hand against the mother-to-be's pregnant belly, along with the caption: "Coming soon," and a cute little "family emoji."
Chance is relatively private about his personal life -- we didn't even know he had a girlfriend! -- but, going off the picture, the couple is well on the way to parenthood -- and today seemed like the perfect time to spread the good news.
Chance was recently the closing headliner Pitchfork Music Festival in his hometown of Chicago. The festival even gave him his own beer, courtesy of Goose Island Brewery. Before that, he was a lucky fan at Taylor Swift's "1989" concert at Soldier Field.
Chance hasn’t released a solo project since his 2012 highly acclaimed Acid Rap mixtape. Much of his focus has been on his band, Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment, who recently released SURF, their debut album. The free release went on to amass 10 million downloads on iTunes.
He also organized, and headlined, a free festival for Chicago teens and he recently surprised a bunch of kids by taking them on a field trip to a planetarium. Safe to say, he’s gonna be a pretty good dad.
Though we’re sure he’s gonna have his hands full for the next several months (and then some), he’s recently announced a joint album with Internet sensation Lil B and he’s been spotted in the studio with Kanye West, who called him "one of the most talented new artists” during a recent concert.
Congrats to Chance and the new family!
