Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis has a weird fascination with murder, and we're not just referring to the band's recent remix of Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money." It seems the frontman was at one point trying to open a museum dedicated to serial killers, or at least his collection of serial-killer related paraphernalia, but it fell through, resulting in a lawsuit. Now, the lawyers who helped him settle out of that lawsuit are bringing charges of their own, claiming that Davis never paid them for their services.
The American Curiosities Museum was only going to focus on one curious theme...serial killers, if you believe TMZ's report, but Davis apparently backed out of the plan. That led to a lawsuit from the other investor (unnamed), which Davis helped settle with help from his attorneys. Davis couldn't have been hurting for money at the time—the band's 2005 album, See You On The Other Side, went platinum—but the vocalist established a payment plan for the $158,000-plus he owed in legal fees, which called for him to send $1,000-a-month.
According to his attorneys from the case, he quit paying after two months. Now they're looking to get $256,000, representing his original dues plus interest/punitive damages.
That brings up a number of questions, such as how much the original lawsuit was worth, that Davis's attorneys put in nearly $160,000 worth of work. Perhaps more relevant is why they waited so long to bring a suit of their own. If the initial lawsuit was wrapped up during 2006, why wait more than a decade before pursuing legal action (especially when you yourself are a lawyer)?
The moral: Nothing good can come from trying to open a museum dedicated to serial killers. Or something.
