Following in Beyoncé's footsteps, Kid Cudi surprised fans last night by releasing his newest album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, on iTunes. Cudi announced the 10-track effort last night via Twitter saying, "The date says April 29 2014 but thats a glitch. Or is it ;) ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW."
The title track, "Satellite Flight," debuted in December. It follows a young man who "will come and save the universe from the forces of evil," Cudi told MTV News. Other tracks on the album are instrumental only, including the opener "Destination: Mother Moon."
"[Satellite Flight] starts where Indicud left off perfectly, and takes you right into MOTM III," Cudi told them. "It's like a TV show that ends with that cliffhanger. The album ends that way, where you get that one song and before you know it, the song is over and the album is over, but there's a 'to be continued...' There's more to the story. ...I kinda went director on this project. I had the idea for the first and second [Man on the Moon] albums, with the whole five acts split. Man on the Moon III will go back to that whole breakdown and this comes back to that tradition, with the acts and everything being seamlessly in order."
Cudi also took the reigns for the cover art, too. On Twitter he posted, "COVER ART! Designed by me, yours truly the one and only CUD LIFE!"
As for Man on the Moon III, it won't arrive until 2015, but for now you check out Cudi's continued journey through space on "Satellite Flight." Let us know what you think of it the comments section below!
