They may love who they love, but apparently it's not each other any more. It has been reported that noted music couple Katy Perry and John Mayer have broken up.
According to E! Online, a source close to the couple said that Perry made the split official with Mayer earlier this week, after roughly two years together. The stars have thus far remained silent about the matter on their official Twitter pages and have yet to actually confirm the news, so it could very well just be a rumor. Furthermore, no reason has been given for their split.
Perry and Mayer have not been spotted in public together since Feb. 16, and the private yet visible couple were apart as Perry took trips to London, Milan and back home to Los Angeles in the last week and a half.
Mayer and Perry first made their relationship public in the summer of 2012 and have notably been an on-and-off again couple, having split previously last March (so this could just be an annual thing).
Despite their rockiness and present split, Perry and Mayer have their once-love documented on CD. Not only are some of Perry's more, ahem, graphic love songs on Prism about Mayer (we're looking at you, "Legendary Lovers") but they duo also teamed up for their country-twinged relationship anthem "Who You Love" for Mayer's Paradise Valley last year.
The song was then released as the record's third single with a mechanical bull influenced music video.
