One of the most surprising, and entertaining, members of Team Drake in his beef against Meek Mill has been Norm Kelly, 73-year-old Toronto city councilman and newly discovered Twitter guru. Late last night (July 30), Mill finally responded to Drake's "Back to Back" diss tracks with one of his own, "Wanna Know," and councilman Kelly wasn't feeling it, suggesting the Dreams Worth More Than Money rapper should hire a ghostwriter of his own.
Drake, who's become aware of Kelly's support, then went on Instagram to post a picture of the politician, whose expression is likely a response to Meek's underwhelming response track. In the caption, he advertised this weekend's sixth annual OVO Fest in downtown Toronto, perhaps extending an invite to Mr. Kelly.
Kelly first entered the beef following Meek's initial ghostwriting accusations, before we heard any response from Drake. He tweeted at the "Dreamchasers" rapper, "You're no longer welcome in Toronto." Mill responded by telling Norm, "U sound like a thug lol," and Norm then questioned him for insulting a "Canadian hero" a week before coming to his hometown.
He's since stayed involved, earning thousands of Twitter followers in the process. After Drake's "Charged Up," he tweeted a picture of a green, fully-charged iPhone battery, and after Drake's second in a row, "Back to Back," he shared this hilarious picture.
It also looks like he hung out with Drake and Toronto rapper P.Reign in Scarborough, the Toronto suburb Norm represents.
In addition to Drake, this weekend's OVO Fest, which starts tomorrow, Aug. 1, will include performances by J. Cole, Big Sean, YG and, perhaps Kelly himself.
